V2 software ready for RPI5?

Good morning!

I recently aquired a RPI5 and like to install Sensorgnome V2

However the manual does not include the RPI5 in the list of supported devices. (it does up to 4B)

Does anyone have any experience with the RPI5 and the rc15 software?

cheers!

Bart

Hi Bart, the Sensorgnome image is built on a 32-bit rPi OS image and I believe the rpi5 requires a 64-bit OS? I have not bought an rpi5 so far and have not looked into it beyond reading the headlines when it was introduced so I’m not sure. Are there any benefits to rpi5 over rpi3/4 for Sensorgnomes?

Hi Thorsten,

I’m not sure about 32/64bits, but I tried setting check_os=0 in config.txt but it did not start after that, so I switched back to a RPI4.

I suppose performance won’t be a reason to upgrade, however availability has been a everlasting problem with first Beaglebones and then the RPI3. And even now I get a “Out of stock! Delivery date unfortunately unknown due to global chip shortage.” message when selecting a RPI4 at my default store. (I can get is elsewhere though, so no problems yet)

Bart

I believe the shortages are largely resolved as far as I can tell. The rpi3’s work very well too, actually better if you use FCDs…

The rpi3 work better with the V2 software? could you elaborate on that?
