Technical guidance needed for new Motus station in New Jersey

My name is Dave Katz, a volunteer at the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge in New Jersey. I also sit on the Board of Directors of the Friends group that supports the Refuge. I am currently seeking technical support for the installation of a Motus station at Great Swamp NWR, located in Harding Township, NJ, at GPS coordinates 40° 43 ‘09.56″ N, 74° 31’ 32.38″ W. We have the approval of the US Fish & Wildlife Service to install the station.

We have funds from donations available to cover the installation, and volunteers who can install the system. I would like to know if there is someone who could provide technical guidance or collaboration to help set up the station properly. Anyone in the area who could visit the Great Swamp would be invaluable.

Please let me know if anyone from the Motus network or a partner organization could assist with this process. I’d be happy to share more details about the site. Thanks in advance your time and support.

David, I live in Somerset, NJ, about 25 miles away from the Great Swamp. Your post was forwarded to me by a friend from California who has a lot of experience installing Motus stations. I haven’t worked with Motus, but I am a license HAM radio operator and have some experience with radio networks. I would be happy to help in whatever way I can.

Thank you. I will contact you if we need additional guidance or support. -Dave

Technical installation documentation may be found here: Station Installation | Motus Docs . I needed to find this for myself, so I thought I would share. FYI.

Thank you, this is a great set of documentation

Dave,

Will the site have permanent power, or will it need a solar power setup? Is there solid WiFi available?

The is 110 power and good wifi available.
