@TvE There are a couple isuses I often encounter when downloading files in the field.
- The download feature is often unresponsive. I think this is sometimes due to the time required to collect and archive the files (?) but occasionally it just doesn’t ever respond.
- The “last downloaded” date is updated when a download is initiatved, not when it’s completed (I think this is unavoidable). The problem is that this will then result in an incomplete download if restarted, and it may not be that clear to the person downloading that this is happened. Download “all” is an option but a) this is even more prone to being unresponsive than the downloading since the last visit and b) it can take a long time if there are lots of files.
I’ve basically just started to use FileZilla again so I can more eaily find and download the files that are new since the last data datea reported on Motus. This works well enough, but it does reinstroduce some of the extra software hassle from V1!
What do you think of some potential solutions (I don’t know how practical any of these are!)
- Integrate some sort of file browser and download selection into the UI.
- Install Samba or something similar on SG by default to allow selection and downloading in a file explorer
- Something else?
