We have a Motus station using a SensorStation (V3023D3665AB) which is connected to the internet. It has been active for some time now. Starting on 2025-11-03, this SS stopped checking in with the CTT server. A quick glance at the CTT portal would suggest that this SS is no longer properly connected to the internet. However, it still synchronises data without issue. Checking the station in the Motus dashboard (IJsselmeerdijk #15274) shows that its latest data is from yesterday. Additionally, in the CTT portal, I can see that it has written log files today, and has also uploaded SG data files today. It seems that the only thing that is not working is that the SS is not checking in. Has anyone run into this issue before?
This is a known issue that we are working on at CTT.
Long story short: the function used to send the check-in data to our server is slightly different than the function used to send the data files to our server. The station prioritizes sending the data files first, and if then the check-in data. If the cell network connection is not strong enough, the check-in data may not get sent.
Again, we are working on a solution to this issue.
Thank you for this information Meelyn. That explains why the station hasn’t been checking in lately.
While doing some unrelated testing with a different SS, we noticed that it wouldn’t check in as soon as it was powered and had made an internet connection (which I believe was the usual behaviour). Instead, we had to manually force a server check-in using the functionality on the SS itself (by navigating the LCD menu). This manual check-in would go through immediately. Maybe that’s useful to know as well.
