[Resolved] SensorStation data processing is currently delayed

As of May 26, data processing for SensorStations has been delayed. We are working to address the backlog but until then expect to see “most recent data” dates for SensorStations stalled around that date.

For network-connected SensorStations, you can still check on the status of the station via the CTT station portal

Thanks for your patience.

Processing has now largely caught up. There may still be some isolated delays of SS and SG data as some large uploads are being processed, but otherwise processing should be up to date.

On our array of stations (Project 213), we are still seeing a backlog on some stations of what we think are primarily Lotek tags, including those recently deployed as well as test tags. Though some Lotek tags do show up. We don’t know if we could be missing other things, and of course our big concern is something is going on with the stations themselves. Could you confirm if that is the case?

Hi Kate, it does appear that we are still experiencing server issues primarily related to CTT data processing. The issues are a bit patchy, though, which may explain why you are seeing data for some stations and not others.

Your best test in this case to confirm station operation (assuming they are connected) is to visit the CTT station portal. You’ll be able to see recent checkins there and be assured that they are still active and uploading to CTT’s severs, even if other downstream processing has been delayed.

I appreciate your response. We do indeed keep our eye on stations via the portal. But we also rely on data posting to the Motus website to help troubleshoot problem stations (we have a few), test station and array coverage, and to narrow the search for breeding birds we hope to manually track in a large and complicated telemetry landscape. All of these tasks are very hard to do with processing and posting delays. It seems like this spring and early summer there have been more issues with delays than in the past. From our end, it looks like there is a delay again on both CTT and Lotek tags posting. I appreciate anything you all are doing behind the scenes to keep things current!

Has most of the large datasets from non-network SGs been caught up now?

I had data uploaded (project #927) that showed no recorded tags in the Motus network even though I was able to see them actively registering on the viewing panel of the SG station. All are Lotek tags. Is there something that I am missing? Please advise.

Hi Abby, There are still some backlogs for SensorGnome data, though SensorStation data should be mostly caught up.

The first thing to confirm is that the tags have active deployment records. Ideally, there would been placeholder deployment records entered into the system at least 24 hours before any receiver data was uploaded. Otherwise they may not appear until the receiver data has been reprocessed.

Thanks for your reply. Yes all tags that are out have an active deployment record that happened before the receiver data was uploaded. Hopefully they will show up on reprocessing.
