Pet tortoise tracker need

Im trying to find a gps tracker than can be used on pet tortoises. Many people have the issue of losing escaped ones and turn to airtags, which are crap that only work on bluetooth within a few feet or not at all. Im looking for help on whether it would work to use this in my area, whether the cell towers would work here, and if theres any suggestions on how to attach it to the shell and still be able to charge the battery.

I would recommend tractive gps. The motus tags wouldn’t be the answer

Yeah, i dont need respiratory rate monitoring or family sharing or movement history etc and i still have the problem of it needing a mount for the tortoise shell so that i can take it off to charge every 6 weeks.

Any small LTE/cell supporting pet tracker with a suitable tracker size/form factor would do perhaps. There are tons of those now e.g. Tractive (mainly Europe), Fi MIni, Pawfit Lite etc. but they all require subscription where main costs lie. There is a few no-subscription products where the tracker sends GPS coordinates to a handheld device but the user needs to be within a few 100s m from the tracker.
