Hi Rick,
I was really surprised (more: flabbergasted) when I saw with my own eyes what Jitse had for surprise…
How small could tags for LoRa ESP32 go to? CTT seems happy with their amazing 2.4GHz tags for Monarch (stunning work!!).

Hi Rene’
The 2.4ghz tags are small and amazing, The size will need to be determined by the technology.
I’ve spoke with Lotek and they are using small LoRa devices for fish and a I suspect they will be testing LoRa trackers on other animals, It is a new and emerging technology that shows promise in the animal tracking.
My experience with the LoRa devics has been in IoT and decentralized communications mesh networks, But heard chatter in the migratory bird and animal tracking areas as well. Looking ahead I believe we will see more come out of this technology.
I’ve also had noisce on my CTT sensorstation and tracked it down to filtering issues, once those were addressed there was a trade off for range , but had fewer cases where of bogus tag ID’s
I hope Jitse is able to resolve the noise issues with filtering and rf shielding as some of us have already encountered?
