Moving Sensorstation to New Motus Project

I need to move a couple of sensorstations from my project that is now complete, to new projects to be redployed. Who do I need to contact at Motus in order to get this done?

Hi Holly, if you provide us with the station_id, current project number, and target project number, we can do it from our end.

Thank you! I have 2 stations (A and B below) who are both currently on project #834 to move as follows:

Station A ID: V3023D413FAE

Station A target project number: #347

Station B ID: V3023D365305

Station B target project number: #357

Let me know if you need any additional information. Thanks!

Those should be moved for you now. Let us know if there are any issues.

(For future reference, it’s actually the database ID that we need, not the receiver serial number. The nomenclature is admittedly somewhat confusing…)

Is there any way to keep the data from ID 15546 prior to this month associated with the Ajo Mountain Wayside location? On motus.org, the former data from Ajo Mountain Wayside now appear to be associated with El Pinacate, which is incorrect. The SensorStation moved to a new project, but can the previous data remain at the old (correct) location/project? The station was taken down in August, but reinstalled at El Pinacate this month.

I wanted to check back in on the last comment from user1004 here. The Motus station that I needed moved from the original post is now the one at El Pinacate and it is showing all the detections from when it was deployed at Ajo Mountain Wayside. Is there a way to retain this data on our Motus project for Ajo Mountain Wayside but have in cleared for the new project it is on at El Pinacate?

@user986 and @user1004 there may be a metadata issue here.

Station_id 15546 has been moved to project 357 as requested. That station used to be called “Ajo Mountain Wayside” based on the screenshot above but now it’s been renamed El Pinacate". But the station, and the two receiver deployments (12568 and 11876) remain the same.

What I’m guessing happened, based on this other post is that this receiver was deployed at Ajo Mountain from 2025-05-28 to 2025-08-06 then was physically moved to a different physical location for 2026-01-08. Is that correct or am I misunderstanding?

@jsrs that is correct– the station was physically moved from Ajo Mountain Wayside to El Pinacate.

Ok that makes sense then.

What you’ll want to do is create a new station for Ajo Mountain Wayside in the original project. Then add the receiver deployment 2025-05-28 to 2025-08-06 receiver deployment to it, and delete the one from station 15546. We’ll have to delete the old deployment from our end, but I think you’ll be able to create the deployment for the new station first.

There is a new deployment for Ajo Mountain wayside in project #834 now. Is there a way to get the antennae information from the old station deployment? I will reach out to our collaborators that now manage 15546 to get them to delete it.

I think I made a mistake in this earlier post when I requested station A, Canyon Diablo Lookout, previous database ID 15548, be moved to project #347 from project #834. What I meant was that we just needed the receiver from that station moved to #347(receiver: V3023D413FAE). There are plans with Arizona Game and Fish Department to redeploy it at a different physical location in the future as part of project #347. However, the station itself: Canyon Diablo Lookout, its original deployment, and all data associated with that original deployment - should stay with project #834 and not be moved to project #347.

There is also still a data mixup with a station/receiver at El Pinacate, database ID: 12568, on project #357, redeployed at its new physical location on 2026-01-08. This receiver (V3023D365305) was originally deployed at the Ajo Mountain Wayside station, previous database ID: 15546, project #834 deployed 2025-05-28 – 2025-08-06. The station and data now look correct for project #834. However, the data from the receiver’s first deployment at Ajo Mountain Wayside still shows up under the El Pinacate station, which is not accurate. It looks like the establishment date for the El Pinacate station is listed as the original deployment date for that receiver when it was deployed at Ajo Mountain Wayside (2025-05-28). Can the project manager for project #357 edit the establishment date to correspond to when the station was redeployed in it’s new location on 2026-01-08? If so, will that remove the duplicated data from the receiver’s previous deployment?
