Manual data upload

I have not been able to upload data manually for several months through motus.org. The same message appears:

"# An error has occurred while we were processing your request.

This error has generated an email that has automatically been sent to the technical support staff. We will investigate this problem and will try to resolve as quickly as possible. It is possible that this was only an error caused by a temporary condition, and that you will not get this error again. If that is the case, then whichever operation that failed should succeed if you try it again. If it does not, then you can assume that there is a problem which we will need to resolve from our end.

If you wish to contact us about this error, please provide this reference number: 1786354412267"

From my perspective it looks like the whole data upload and analysis service is malfunctioning, but it is very difficult for me to figure out what is going on since I cannot see any updated detection data.

What is the status of the system right now?

Hi Arne, there have been a lot of processing issues over the past several months. The system is being rebuilt to accommodate the increased volume of data, but in the meantime there have been fairly consistent processing backlogs. Glancing at some stations in Ontario it looks like most are about 4 weeks behind at the moment.

That said, you shouldn’t be continuously seeing that error and should be able to upload your data. I just checked now and am able to access the upload page and didn’t have any issue uploading data from about 8 stations last week and notice my colleague here just uploaded data from 3 stations this morning. Manual uploads are currently only being accepted from 8 am to 8 pm Eastern time (noon to midnight UTC I believe) but there should be a notification of that on the upload page during that time, not an error message.
