Is sensorgnome.net down?

We’ve been trying to reach https://sensorgnome.net since this past Saturday (July 25) when we visited our station (WBWRI-01 in northern Alberta) to do some troubleshooting, but we’re getting the following response in our web browsers: “this site cannot be reached; www.sensorgnome.net refused to connect”.

We’ve tried many different browsers on many different devices from many different locations (in Alberta and BC) and thru several different Internet Service Providers, and our only conclusion is that the site is down.

I see a thread on this topic from April of this year, but the issue was resolved at that time, and I see no recent posts on the topic, so I’m bringing it up again today to see if others are also having issues getting to sensorgnome.net.

Just trying myself and it appears to be, at least currently. @TvE may have more current information.

Yes, I have not been able to connect since 24.07.

After logging in, I can see at the moment loads of stations.

It is indeed up again now for me as well. Maybe just a temporary outage.

Thanks everyone - sensorgnome.net is working for me again too. Looks like it became available a couple of hours ago, and that it had probably been unreachable since about July 19.

It’s a relief to have visibility to our station again!

Apologies for the downtime. Please don’t wait to send me an email notice or post here!

This time I set up some alerts so hopefully I will find out sooner.

Not working now

Thanks for the note, it’s back up now. Service crashed, can’t tell what happened.

Hi @TvE - it looks like SensorGnome.net is having some troubles again. The site loads, and shows the listing of recently installed Sensorgnomes at the top of the page, but there’s no data in any of the widgets below that on the page.

Thanks for the note! Fixed now. I’m still running too close to the disk limit, need to do more work…

Update: the good news is that the alerting service tried to send me an alert in time but it got blocked due to a round of security tightening I did on my VPN. I fixed that. Bad news is that I haven’t had the time to address the too-tight-disk-space issue.

Thanks @TvE  I have much respect for the efforts you put in to keep this running for all of us, and sympathize with the challenge of working within contrained resources!

FYI, I am updating the sensorgnome.net (SGHub) server, expect disruptions. Apologies for any inconvenience.

(Edit: sensorgnome.net for V2 SGs, not sensorgnome.org – thanks for catching my mistake, Josh)

Update: done with updates, backups are working again, now I need to keep the disk space in check…

FYI: sensorgnome.net, although online, is not showing any station data since yesterday.

…and when I am at it, the https certificate of sensorgnome.org is invalid. Firefox does not like that, and I have to unlock all security checks to see the status of the V1 stations.

Thanks for the note about sensorgnome.net / SGHub. The monitoring service is crashing, not sure what’s going on yet, working on it…

Update: good news, it’s back up. Bad news, I rebooted it. Meaning: I don’t really know what was wrong and I don’t know that I fixed anything. So I expect a “see you again sometime soon”…

Yup! Works (for the moment).
