Grounding stations

Hello Motus folks,

We are getting very close to installing a bunch of towers though I still don't have the insurance thing worked out. On another front, are people grounding their towers? I was planning on grounding the towers with a grounding rod but now my coax expert says I need to add lightning arrestors on each cable. Do you folks think that is necessary?

Hi Susan,

There was some previous discussion on the list about grounding - search "Grounding the automated station" in the list and you'll see the previous discussion. Overall grounding typically depends on the characteristics of the individual stations, but the vast majority are not grounded.
