I have heard that CTT is no longer producing their Motus Adapter/Dongle. Is that for certain? I have also heard rumblings that there may be alternatives in the works?
I cant find any recent discussions or guidance on this topic.
Can someone provide links or a roadmap of hardware/software for how to acquire CCT 434 Mhz tag data with sensorgnomes going forward? CTT SensorStations are far out of my price range and way more than my current efforts require.
I just got my first sensorgnome up and running using Thorsten’s Sensorgnome V2 software and Im planning to build at least two more. However I only have one borrowed CTT Dongle (that I will loose this summer)
I believe you are correct as I’ve heard the same story from David at CTT, no more CTT dongles, just the SensorStation.
It might mean just Lotek reception for us DIY’s. That said, Thorsten mentioned that he might have a solution using Adafruit feather 434MHz hats (https://www.adafruit.com/product/3077). Finger crossed.
Currently working on a fourth station. Any new developments for connecting CTT antennas to Sensorgnomes? Currently only the Lotek antennas are active on the three previous stations.
FYI, the V3 firmware requires the radio’s DIO3 pin to be connected to the processor’s pin 10. If that’s not done, all RSSI values show as 0 and often the dongle is not recognized by Linux. Here’s a pic of my wire (fat and red and routed diagonally for clarity, a thin wire neatly routed would work the same and look better…):
Should have a couple ready to go by late next week, just waiting for the 3D printed boxes to appear from a friend. Adams instructions were very good, thanks Adam! (might want to add the wire to the instruction set whenever you get some free time. :) )
Thorsten, I’'d be happy to test your latest version of the Sensorgnome software anytime after that.
Indeed, it was very kind of CTT to provide the firmware and the 3D print file.
Hope all’s well. Three of the Adafruit feather CTT’s have been running in SG-7F40RPI3DC6B for about a week now. When I check into SG-HUB, they appear to be working well. Unfortunately our club does not own a CTT transmitter to do an actual final test. We will have to wait until one of our winged friends passes by. But at present, I’d like to say, “Nice job and thank you!” :)
The only very small wrinkle, when defining the new antennas/radios in the Motus project software, the selection box only goes to CTT_V2, there is no V3 to select from.
